Tahiti & Bora Bora, is part of a smaller collective group of islands called the French Polynesia, which in turn belongs to a larger group over a thousand islands called Polynesia. They became French colonies in the mid 1800’s, and till date remain the collectivity of France.
The original inhabitants of Tahiti are an ancient race, who traveled by sea around 300AD from Tonga & Samoa. The Tahitians are known to have used the position of the stars to navigate the seas in their canoes. .A dip in the lagoon, exotic delicacies, rich tropical forests, Tahiti too many is paradise on earth.
Bora Bora in the Tahitian language is called Pora Pora meaning ‘First Born’; it lies 140 miles northwest of Tahiti. A small island with a population of 8800 people, Bora Bora is surrounded by a lagoon & rich coral reefs .In the middle of this island lays an extinct volcano with peaks rising to a height of 727 meters above sea level. The island was the American Military & Naval base during the 2nd world war, but luckily it never saw any action. Snorkeling & scuba diving are favorite sports for tourists who visit Bora Bora.
