The Sky Tower in Auckland
In New Zealand there are a number of activities that you must do and see. For example, if you go to Auckland you will find a fabulous monument named the Sky Tower, otherwise known as the Tower of Heaven. This vast and high rising tower is located in downtown Auckland and is a telecommunications tower which broadcasts radio waves and television. The mast at the top of the Sky Tower which houses an FM antenna emits 17 stations (a world record for a single antenna).
The Sky Tower measures 328 metres, and is considered the highest tower in the southern hemisphere and the twelfth highest in the world. It was built in almost three years during the period from 1994 to 1997.
So what is special about the Sky Tower? Well, it offers breathtaking views from the all 4 corners. That means you will see on a clear day up to 82 miles of the Auckland skyline, so bring a camera to capture breathtaking panoramic views! The Sky Tower has viewpoints to which the public can access: the Sky Deck, the Main Level of observation and Sky Lounge. Looking eastward you see the Hauraki Gulf to Rangitoto Island. Perhaps you prefer the view toward the North and appreciate the Waitemata Harbour. Would you like to take a panoramic picture of Bombay Hills? Then you should focus the camera toward the south. Finally toward the west we can see the Waitakere Ranges. Not only that, during the ascent to the summit, the three elevators offer the same views as they have glass panels!
Are you encouraged to visit the place? Excellent, Sky Tower is open every day. If you visit Sunday through Thursday may do so from 8:30 am until 11p.m., Friday and Saturday can stay until midnight.
